Tribes Administration
Cowichan Tribes Administration is responsible for:
-
Implementing policies and projects as directed by Chief and Council;
-
Ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the ongoing operations;

Ensuring fiscal and operational accountability;
-
Providing secretarial support to Chief and Council; and
-
Providing overall administrative support to the organization.
Cowichan Tribes manages its own financial affairs subject to the following constraints:
-
Must submit reports on all programs funded by senior governments;
-
Must submit an annual professional audit to INAC and Health Canada, conducted by an external audit company;
-
Must remain solvent; and
-
Must provide an Annual Report and host an Annual General Meeting of the membership to review the audit.
Did you know . . .
The first Tribes office opened in 1966 on the current site in a simple A-frame building, with two employees plus the Band Manager. The Tribes office moved twice before returning to the current site.
