The Citizenship Department is starting community consultation on recommended changes to the Shtunni's tu Hwulmuhw (Citizenship/Membership Code). Proposed changes include options for defining Cowichan Tribes Descent, updated terminology, added clarification, and reorganized sections to make the Code easier to follow. Quw'utsun Mustimuhw are invited to learn about the changes, ask questions, and share feedback.
The Shtunni’s tu Hwulmuhw - Citzenship/Membership Code determines who is recognized as a Cowichan Tribes member and sets out important processes related to membership. As changes are considered, community input is an important part of making sure the Code reflects the collective voice, values, priorities and future vision of Quw’utsun Mustimuhw.
