Dental Program
The Ts'ewulhtun Dental Clinic is open 5 days a week, Mon-Fri, 8:30-4:30 p.m. and closed 12 noon to 1:00 pm for lunch. Dental Night Clinics offered to the first Tuesday of each month (or as needed) from 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm.
Our dental clinic offers Dental Public Health services and provides education, prevention, and restorative care to community members of all ages. The Children's Oral Health Initiative (COHI) has been decreasing dental caries rates in Cowichan since 2009, and provides care for children aged 0-7 and expectant mothers. COHI services are provided in our clinic, and also at daycares and schools on and off-reserve.
We provide dental information to parents, caregivers and expectant parents to help their children build and maintain healthy smiles. Promoting healthy gums and teeth contributes to overall good health. Brushing your teeth regularly prevents cavities. Avoiding pain and infection from cavities gives children a better opportunity to learn and thrive. Serious dental disease which may lead to hospitalization can be avoided by using simple oral health care preventative practices.
The Dental Team includes a Dentist, Dental Therapist, Dental Hygienist, Dental Assistants and COHI Aides.
