Yuthuy'thut Adult Training Centre
Yuthuy’thut Training Program started in 1990 as a stepping stone for adults over 19 to upgrade their education as a step towards further education and employment. Recently, a special focus has been placed on improving literacy and earning the Adult Dogwood Graduation Certificate.
Cowichan Tribes members, their extended family, and other status First Nations people are eligible to participate in the program. The core service is a 10-month program that runs from September to June, providing instruction in a variety of academic courses, as well as, daily Hul’q’umi’num’ language, teachings, and culture. Yuthuy’thut also provides training in Cashier, First Aid, World Host, and Food Safe.
All teachers at Yuthuy’thut are members of the BC College of Teachers and the Life Skills Coaches are certified. Presently, all of our teachers and assistants are Cowichan Tribes members which allow for some language and culture to be used in all classes.
