Urban Families Team

Our Wise Practice is:

‘sh-hwuykw’selu’ – ‘a meeting place, a place to gather’ – our partnerships in community are strong and serve our families where they are

(In development) As a team based in the urban setting of Duncan in the Cowichan Valley, the Urban Families Team embraces the responsibility to provide services, supports and a place to gather. The majority of Indigenous families reside off reserve or move between off reserve and in-community environments. The impact of which can include a disconnection from their cultural daily living. The Urban families Team at Lalum’utul’ Smun’eem CFS supports the transitions of families between the contemporary (urban) and historical traditional territory for Cowichan Tribes members.
