Notice of Land Law Enactment

TAKE NOTICE that Cowichan Tribes, in accordance with Sections 6.1, 6.2 (i) and 7.4 of the Quw'utsun Tumuhw, have enacted the Cowichan Tribes Interim Tumuhw (Land) Registration Procedures Law.

The Cowichan Tribes Interim Tumuhw (Land) Registration Procedures Law aims to provide Council-approved forms and application procedures to ensure continutity of Tumuhw registration activities and minimize any disruption of Lulumexun Department registration services associated with the Quw'utsun Tumuhw;

Sections  6.1 and 6.2 (i) of the Quw'utsun Tumuhw provide the authority for Council to make laws in respect to fees and procedures for the registration of Tumuhw;

Section 7.4 of Quw'utsun Tumuhw gives authority to Council to enact an urgent law to protect Tumuhw or Cowichan Tribes Members, which would expire 120 days after its enactment unless it's reenacted following the formal law-making procedures;
