Education Jurisdiction Vote

We’re happy to announce the final agreement with the Government of Canada is complete. Cowichan Tribes’ Chief and Council are asking the community to come together to vote to regain our jurisdiction over education on our reserve lands.

What this means

Cowichan Tribes membership will review the finalized agreement with Canada and vote to accept it so we can once again practice our inherent right to govern education on our lands.

Cowichan Tribes membership will also vote to accept the law-making protocol that will guide the development of our own education law and any other laws we need to develop under jurisdiction.
