Sustainable Housing

Housing Emergencies include:

(a) any damage to or defect in interior plumbing, heating systems, electrical systems, or smoke or carbon monoxide detectors or alarms;

(b) a hazard to the immediate health or safety of Tenants,

(c) the loss or potential loss of an essential service such as electricity, plumbing, or heat

As noted in the Housing Policy:

A Tenant is responsible for reporting any circumstance which may warrant an emergency repair to the Housing Department as soon as the Tenant becomes aware of the need for the emergency repair.

 

Animal Control Concerns/ Report an animal in distress

Please note: Cowichan Tribes Enforcement cannot seize animals from private property. The RCMP is legally able to apprehend animals.

The Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP)  24/7 hotline should be used to report wildlife-human interactions where public safety may be at risk. It also allows you to report known or suspected violations of fisheries, wildlife, or environmental protection laws anonymously and without risk of confronting the offender: 1 877 952-7277

Please contact the Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP) to report a bear or cougar that poses an immediate threat or danger to public safety.
