UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS

Cowichan Tribes has placed great importance on increasing the participation and success rates of members in post-secondary education and training, for their own personal development and to build the professional capacity to be future leaders.  Students are encouraged students to graduate with the qualifications and skills needed to pursue individual careers and contribute to the achievement of First Nations' self government, economic, cultural and social self reliance.  Supporting a student's success is our highest priority, and Cowichan Tribes is committed to financially supporting post-secondary education and training.

A Policies and Procedures Guide helps students understand his/her responsibilities, rights, and obligations while attending a post-secondary institution.  Funding time lines are set to maximize the amount of funding available to each student, and to provide service to as many eligible individuals as possible.

Funding dollars are committed each year in the following priority:
1. High school graduates and post-secondary students continuing with their educational goals.
2. Students moving from developmental education programs into post-secondary programs.
3. Students registering in vocational/career programs less than one year in length.
4. Short-term career programs of less than 3 months.

Workshops are not funded.
